Abstract
This study presents a comprehension of pragmatics analysis which is limited in the used of politeness strategy in the dialogues of screenplay entitled “The Devil Wears Prada” by Peter Hedges. The goals of this study are to identify the politeness strategies that are used by the main character and to know the possible reasons as well. The writer uses a theory from Brown and Levinson (1987). Subsequently, the writer uses descriptive qualitative to collect and analyze the data of the screenplay. There are 35 data that were collected from the screenplay, as the result, politeness strategies that are found in this study are 8 bald on record, 14 positive politeness, and 13 negative politeness, yet off record is not found on this study.
