Abstract
This study is entitled “Struggles Against Women's Oppression in The Princess (2022) Film: A Perspective of Existentialist Feminism”. This study aims to find out the portrayed women oppression that occurs in The Princess (2022) film and to analyze how the female character struggles against it, both from the narrative and cinematographic elements. The object of this study was The Princess (2022) film directed by Le-Van Keit. The method used in the study was qualitative descriptive approach since this study was analyzed in a narrative technique. The theory used for this study was existential feminism theory to fight women's oppression from Simon de Beauvoir which was written in his book entitled “The Second Sex” (1949). The results of the study were divided into two events. First, it portrayed the types of oppression of women experienced by the main character, namely: the existence of women as "the other", secondary human, sexual objects, limited domestic and family rules and social expectations. Second, the struggles of the main character against the oppression of women by showed her existence through: women can be intellectual and women can identify themselves through the view of society.
