Abstract

The objective of the study is to discuss teaching vocabulary using pictures at the 1st Grade students of Saint Peter’s Primary School, Boulevard Timur Raya 8 – Jakarta Utara. The sample of the study was nineteen students of first grade students in Saint Peter Primary School. This study uses Communicative Language Teaching in the qualitative form by collecting the data from the post-test. These tests have purposed performances given to the 1st Grade students of Saint Peter’s Primary School, Boulevard Timur Raya 8 – Jakarta Utara is effective. The data collected in this study were analyzed by using data reduction and data display. According to the result of the students’ scores in teaching vocabulary through pictures using Communicative Language Teaching, the highest score is 100 and the lowest is 67. The average of individual, scores of the first test is 85.61, second test is 97.36, and the third is 98.42. Based on the finding of this study, it can be concluded that using pictures with Communicative Language Teaching is effective and quite successful Key words: Vocabulary, Picture, Communicative Language Teaching
