Abstract
Asean Economic Community (AEC), which came into effect on January 1st, 2016 has become a challenge that must be overcome by Indonesia in any sectors. Accountant is a profession that was potentially targeted by the other ASEAN member countries. This literature review paper reveals that the accountant current acquired competency is insufficient to win the the competition during MEA. The review shows the importance other aspects, such as soft skills development and competence continuously improvement, accompanied by network establishment, integrity and prepared mental as a player. It is also a necessity to empower the Indonesian professional accountants organization (IAI), as well as the other main accountants stakeholders; universities, government and business world. I also can be concluded that, for qualified accountants, the MEA brings more opportunities rather than threats to anticipate. Key Words : AEC, Competition, Accountant, IAI, Stakeholders
