Abstract

This study aims to analyze childhood traumatic experiences of the characters named Sheila and Sarah based on psychoanalysis theory. The goal of this study is to describe types of trauma, cause and effect, and how to cope and handle traumatized children in school environment. As a guidance, the writer adopted psychological theories from National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN, 2015) and Jhonson (1989). Children who are experiencing trauma may experience a change in character and behavior if it is not solve properly. Beside treating the children with love, attention and affection, listening their feeling and not judging them is one of the way to help them recover from their traumatic experience. The result of this study shows that when a home is no longer able to be a comfortable place for children growth and development, school can take their important part in handling traumatized children so gradually the children can forget and healing themselves from their traumatic experience.
