Abstract

This study entitled Sexual Violence Againts Woman In I Spit On Your Grave 2. It explores the pervasive nature of sexual violence, encompassing a range of actions, including insults, harassment, and coercion, often driven by unequal power dynamics and a disregard for consent. This study explores into the portrayal of sexual violence in media, specifically analyzing the movie "I Spit on Your Grave 2" (2013).. Using Simone de Beauvoir's of The Other theory from her book “The Second Sex” and Judith Butler’s Gender Performativity theory from her book “Gender Trouble. This analysis offers insights into the representation of sexual violence in media and its potential impact on audiences. The study result that "I Spit on Your Grave 2" effectively portrays the severe impact of sexual violence, highlighting the intense physical and psychological trauma experienced by the protagonist. By aligning with de Beauvoir's feminist theory, the film emphasizes sexual violence as a systemic issue that reinforces women's subordinate position. As by Judith Butler’s gender performativity theory, Katie disrupts traditional gender roles by performing traits often associated with masculinity such as assertiveness, aggression, and control when she seeks revenge. This portrayal challenges audiences to reflect on societal changes necessary to prevent such violence and support survivors, ultimately contributing to ongoing conversations about gender equality and justice.
