Abstract

The background of this study was based on the prevalence of events that caused trauma. This research explained the traumatic experiences present in individuals. The study aimed to explore the traumatic experiences of the main character in the novel and how the impact of trauma changed the main character's personality. This research used a qualitative method. The data were collected to analyze the study in detail within the novel's narrative. After gathering the data, they were analyzed using Cathy Caruth's (1996) trauma theory to demonstrate that the novel's narrative related to traumatic experiences. The results of the study showed a connection between traumatic experiences and the traumatic impact experienced by the main character. Based on the findings, the traumatic events and the impact of trauma in this novel were explained as having the potential to affect individuals, both personally and socially.
