Abstract

The aim of this study is to describe the activities of teaching speaking by interviewing and reporting activities using Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) to find out the materials and activities that used in learning process in the classroom, to analyze the result of learning speaking process by interviewing and reporting activities using CLT method in the second grade students of SMP Islam Al Ghozali, Gunungsindur, Bogor. The approach that was used is qualitative approach and also by conducting the observation, interviewing the English teacher and giving questionnaires to the students. Through qualitative approach, the data of observation, the interview with the English teacher and the questionnaires are using descriptive analysis. This study found that the speaking activities was done by English teacher and the students at SMP Islam Al Ghozali, Gunungsindur, Bogor showed the students’ interest in speaking activities by interviewing and reporting activities using CLT method. The use of the interview and the oral report are as the tools to motivate the students and make them interested in learning English, especially in speaking. As the result of the learning processes are the improvement of the students’ interest, motivation, and score for the speaking test.
