Abstract
This study entitled “Identity Crisis in The Vanishing Half Novel” aims to identify psychosocial development stages which marks the identity crisis of the main character in The Vanishing Half, identical twin sisters Desiree and Stella faced their step to find out the impact of their identity crisis. This study uses qualitive research to analyse and disclose identity crisis and to solve the crisis action done by their findings and analysis through narrative text. The writer applies the perspective of Erik Erikson (1968), entitled: Identity Youth and Crisis. This theory offers valuable insights into the identity crisis and how individuals with identity crisis face this situation during psychosocial development stages. The results of this study found that the main character experiences and the impact of identity crisis towards the eighth stage of psychosocial development influence their life. More specifically, it considers how family, friendship and relationship in adolescence impact Desiree and Stella’s behaviour and influence the development of identity and the possibilities for positive change in their lives.
