Abstract
The purpose of this study is to analyze the struggle of refugees against hegemony in the novel written by Zana Fraillon, The Bone Sparrow (2016). This study uses a qualitative method that presents an analysis of the quotations in the novel. To guide this study, the writer uses Antonio Gramsci‟s theory of hegemony from his book, Selections from the Prison Notebooks (1999). This study have two parts to be analyzed, the first part is an analysis of how the various forms of hegemony are depicted in the novel, and the second part is an analysis of how the struggle of refugees against hegemony is depicted in the novel. The result of this study showed the horrific system of hegemony that the authorities impose on refugees, and the various forms of hegemony that shackle refugees, as well as to show the struggle of refugees against hegemony in an Australian refugee detention center.
