Abstract

The thesis is entitled “Violence Against Woman in The Murder Game Novel by Beverly Barton”. The study aims to analyze the types of violence against women contained in the novel. The main character is a girl who has the power as an FBI agent who aims to become a savior. However, on the way to reach her destination, she is instead treated cruelly as a kidnap victim by Pudge. The method used in analyzing this novel is qualitative method by Onwuegbuzie, Leech, and Collins. The research data are in the form of words, phrases, and sentences which contain elements of the types violence against woman found in this novel. Furthermore to solve the research problem, the theories of domestic violence by McCue (2008). The results of the study illustrate that women are often seen as other and related like objects, this encourages the main character to fight back and shows that she exists as a complete human being.
