Abstract

This study aims to analyze the marginalization of the characters in the novel This is My America (2020), written by Kim Johnson. This study focuses on the marginalization of Black people who are marginalized by white people. The purpose of this study is to describe the forms and resistance to marginalization that these characters face. This study uses Theory by Homi K. Bhabha (1994) to be realized with the data in the novel. In this study, the writer used a qualitative descriptive research method to collect data from various sources to examine and support the objectives of the study. The results of the research show that the characters experience forms of marginalization such as racial marginalization and marginalization in legal system. However, at the end of the story, the characters can also fight against marginalization, As a group who are marginalized, characters do the resistance, such as investigation, build up support, and protest of justice for resist marginalization.
