Abstract

Jargon is a social variation used by certain social groups in a limited way, especially in the field of travel. In the process of interaction with tourists Mas Biro Travel uses a lot of jargon. The purpose of study is to explain the form and meaning of the jargon used by Mas Biro Travel. The theory used in this study is the theory of jargon put forward by Halligan (2004) and the theory of meaning put forward by Leech (1981). This study approach is a qualitative approach. The data source in this study was obtained from primary data sources, namely the Mastravelbiro.com website. The result of this study, found 3 forms of jargon used in Mastravelbiro.com. First, 2 pieces of data, form of the word. Second, form of a phrase, 42 data. Third, 2 data form of Abbreviations. Meanwhile, in the form of an acronym, there is no jargon data used in Mastravelbiro.com. The types of jargon meanings found in Travel are conceptual meanings and social meanings. In terms of conceptual meaning, the meaning of jargon is denotative and can be traced in the dictionary. Whereas in the social meaning, it found the type of Province meaning used in the field of Tour, tourism activities in nature, buses. Restaurant, games, hostelry, and tax.
