Abstract
The study titled “Gender Stereotypes in the Book The Boy In The Dress by David Walliams” is to analyzes the issue of gender stereotypes towards boys depicted in the novel The Boy In The Dress by David Walliams (2008). The Boy In The Dress (2008) presents a novel that talks about gender stereotypes towards boys which make these boys feel insecure about themselves and uncomfortable with their environment because they get stereotyped labels from their own family. This study uses qualitative methods to analyze gender stereotypes that hurt themselves. The objects analyzed are through quotations using the theory of gender stereotypes from Judith Butler (1999) in her book entitled "Gender Trouble" and presented in the form of essays and the theory of gender perforation. The results of the study in this book show that the gender stereotypes that occur towards the main character in this novel occur because of the gender stereotyping view towards boys by their own families who consider men as strong creatures, who are not allowed to express feelings such as crying or hugging. This has an impact on the mental state of the character in the novel which causes him to feel insecure with his family, feel distrust of the surrounding environment, and feel uncomfortable with himself.
