Abstract

This study aims to analyze the description of the beauty myth experienced by the main character in the Novel One to Watch (2020). This analysis focuses on how the beauty myth is depicted in the story of the main character and how the main character breaks the pattern of the beauty myth. The purpose of this study is to analyze Culture, Sex, and Hunger which is described by collecting dialogues and narratives from the characters in the novel to achieve their main goals. The theory used in this study is the theory of The Beauty Myth by Naomi Wolf (2002) such as Culture, Sex, and Hunger. This study uses a qualitative approach. The results of the study show the dominant concept depicted in the novel, namely the concept of Culture. The existence of beauty myths makes the protagonist break the pattern of beauty myths that occur in the novel. Keywords: beauty, feminism, The Beauty Myth, women.
