Abstract
This study aims to reveal the alienation experienced by the protagonist and the efforts made to deal with alienation in the novel Normal People by Sally Rooney (2018), which tells the story of Marianne and Connel, who experience alienation at different times. This study uses Fromm's theory of alienation in the psychological approach. In the research process of this study, the author uses qualitative methods. This study indicates that the protagonist experiences alienation with indicators of being isolated and separated from self, activities, and others by being alone, feeling unaccepted, and unworthy. To deal with alienation, the protagonist identifies himself by using human needs to accept the existence and become productive. Keywords: Alienation, Human Needs, Isolated, Separated.
