Abstract
The purpose of this study is to explain the form and meaning of onomatopoeia in Asterix and The Class Act. The research method used in this study is descriptive qualitative. It is found have are four forms of onomatopoeia in the comic. The four forms of onomatopoeia consist of Corporeal Sound Symbolism or Kinaesthesia, Sound symbolism, Synesthetic Sound Symbolism, and Conventional Sound Symbolism. Based on the results of this study, two meanings of onomatopoeia were found; Analytic Dimension and Affecto-Imagistic Dimension. Types of part of speech in the analytic dimension are Interjection, verb, and, noun. Furthermore, types of reduplication found were clusters consonant reduplication, reduplication of the phoneme, word reduplication, and reduplication with changes in vowel sounds.
