Abstract
This study aims to analyse the issue of anxiety. The object of this study is a novel entitled Red at The Bone by Jacquelin Woodson 2019. This study uses a qualitative method that presents an analysis in writing. To guide this study, the writer uses the theory from Sigmund Freud's Psychoanalytic (1895). This study concludes that the main character, Iris, experiences anxiety due to her negative behaviour, pregnancy, and guilt. Thus, she must face her pressure. The results that Iris must receive are three kinds of anxiety, objective anxiety, neurotic anxiety, and moral anxiety. Iris experiences fear, worry, embarrassment, disappointment, loneliness, jealousy, overthinking, gossip, being expelled from school, dropping out, fear of choosing the wrong partner, and being haunted by guilt. Therefore, Iris deals with her anxiety through lies, excuses, and hides.
