Abstract
The title of this study is "Language features through gender differences in some Instagram advertisements" limited to gender language. This study analyzed the different language features in men's and women's language that are found on Instagram advertisement captions. This study aims to analyze the different characteristics of men's and women's language features and find the function behind them. This study used the theory of Baxter (2010), Lakoff (2004), and Leech (1947) to analyze the several language features that are found on Instagram advertisement captions. A qualitative method was used to analyze the data, and presented on informal form with descriptive analysis techniques. From the data analysis it was found that there are different language characteristic in men and women such as the use of harsh and slang language which is more common in men’s language than in women and the different vocabularies that chosen in men and women language, about rapport or report, an opinion, or intensifiers. Moreover, from the language feature are founded had several functions as informative, expressive, directive, aesthetic, and phatic. This shows that male and female language features are found in the distribution of advertisements on Instagram which are not widely known by Instagram users themselves.
