Abstract
The aim of this study is to analyze how disavowal identity is being depicted and the impact toward the character to have an Islamophobia. The object of this study is a playscript entitled Disgraced by Ayad Akhtar (2013). The writer used a descriptive qualitative research method in analyzing the study. In order to guide this study, the writer uses the perspective of Erving Goffman (1963) in Stigma and Social Identity. The character is being depicted to have a trauma when he was child by becoming the object also as the perpetrator of stigma. This is the reason that leads him into a disavowal identity. The analysis of the theory shows how the character that is battling with his own identity can lead him into denial and have an Islamophobia. The result of this study showed that a traumatic event can lead the character to have a disavowal identity and make him having no clear judgement toward others that eventually it leads them to have prejudice toward others character.
