Abstract
This study the struggle of gender equality in the novel Dominicana by Angie Cruz. Which aim to analyze how the women characters deals with struggles for the gender equality in Dominicana. Which is an analysis with a qualitative method and analyzed with the theory of Judith Buber Agassi (1979), he explains, namely the freedom to make life choices and freedom of movement; and power. He explained that the freedom to choose life choices, especially for a woman, there is no freedom of opinion for women because men and women are born equal without any differences of opinion. The result is that there are many struggles carried out by female figures to maintain gender equality with there being differences between men and women and no one listens to the opinions of female characters in this matter. And in the end the female character accepts gender equality which occurs even though it is full of struggles.
