Abstract

The study entitled “Islamophobia in Sahar Mustafah’s The Beauty of Your Face Novel” discussed the Islamophobia issue in novel. The purposes of this study are to analyze the Western stereotype of Muslim characters leading to the emergence of Islamophobia faced by Afaf Rahman and to uncover the depiction of Islamophobia experienced by Afaf Rahman in analyzing the novel entitled The Beauty of Your Face written by Sahar Mustafah in the perspective of Orientalism. The method that has been used to analyze this study is the qualitative method. To analyze this novel, the theory of Edward Said’s Orientalism (1978) and Grosfoguel’s theory is used to support the concept of those related explanations about the issue. The result of this study shows the Western stereotype of Muslim such as Muslim as other, Muslim as terrorist and aspects that offend to Muslim women freedom and the depiction of Islamophobia such as vandalism and physical assault.
