Abstract

The tittle of this study is Alienation in Emily Fridlund’s History of Wolves Novel. The study is focused to find out how the depiction of alienation by the main character and to find out how the main character struggle with alienation. The writer conducted the descriptive qualitative method in analyzing the study. The theory that used in this study is from Fromm (1956). The result of this study shows the depictions of Alienation by the main character at school because her friends think that she is a freak which makes her have no friends. Alienation is also depicted at home because her parents always ignore her until she thinks that her parents is like more step-siblings than parents. The main character's struggle with alienation by herself, she starts to accept how her parents treat her at home and how her friends treat her at school. The main character also struggle by getting love from other family, it starts when there is a family moves across the lake and becomes her neighbor then she tries to get into the family because she sees the parents who love their child.
