Abstract
The title of this study is “Derivational Affixes Analysis on CNN Global News Articles.” The purpose of this study was to analyze the form and function of derivational affixes on words used in CNN Global News articles. The writer uses Yule's, and Plag's theory. The study used descriptive qualitative method as approach of the study. This study reveals that there are 5 quantify, 2 locative, 3 temporal, 5 negative, for suffix 17 nominal, 2 adjectival, 3 adverbial, 3 verbal, for double affixes, there is 1 double suffix (adjectival suffix and nominal suffix), 2 double suffix (adjectival suffix and adverbial suffix), 1 double suffix (verbal suffix and nominal suffix), 1 double affix (locative prefix and adjectival suffix) 2 double affix (negative prefix and verbal suffix), 1 double affix (negative prefix and adverbial suffix), 1double affix (negative prefix and adjectival suffix), 1 double affix (negative prefix and nominal suffix). Based on this study, it can be concluded that suffix is more widely used in news articles than prefix.
