Abstract

This study aims to identify and explain the meanings of icons, symbols and indexes on Shopee Singapore poster 11.11 campaign. The writer uses a qualitative method in this study to make it easier the writer tries to determine and describe the signs on the posters. In this study, the writer uses the theory of Charles Sanders Peirce's theory of signs, especially on icons, indexes and symbols. The data analyzed in this study are posters of Shopee Singapore 11.11 campaign 2021. The writer focuses on analyzing five posters of Shopee Singapore 11.11 campaign 2021 that were collected from social media accounts of Shopee Singapore namely Facebook and Twitter. The writer found 134 signs consist of 17 icons, 31 symbols, and 86 indexes from the five posters used as data. Each poster has the same purpose and function, namely as information that will be provided to Shopee users and other readers. The poster provides information about interesting promos such as discounts, giveaways, cashback, and special offers. Furthermore, this poster also provides information about the live events that will be held, information such as special guests who will attend the campaign event until the event date.
