Abstract

The aims of this study entitled “Persona and Shadow in The Girl Next Door novel by Phoebe Morgan” are to analyze archetype issues, especially persona and shadow, as well as the impact of persona and Shadow represented by the main character in the novel. The object used for this study is The Girl Next Door (2019) novel written by Phoebe Morgan. The writer uses the psychoanalysis theory especially the theory of persona and shadow archetype of Carl Gustav Jung (1968) to guide this study. The data of this study are narrative sentences and dialogue quotes related to the persona and shadows and the impact of persona and shadow shown in the novel. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method that presents an analysis in writing. The result of this study indicated that the archetypes of persona and shadow of the main character as well as the impact of persona and shadow on the main character are shown in the novel.
