Abstract

This study aims to identify the politeness strategies used by Daddy Corbuzier on the YouTube podcast channel and to find out the factor affecting for using the politeness strategy. The object of this study is the video podcast Deddy Corbuzier on YouTube with Lesti & Billar, Rara, and Andhika. This study applies the qualitative research method as the analysis presented in the podcast. To guide this study, the writer uses Brown & Levinson's (1987) theory. The analysis results in the presenter using more Bald on record and positive politeness, and there are factors affecting for using the politeness strategies such as payoffs doing bald on record, payoffs doing positive politeness, payoffs doing negative politeness, payoffs doing off record and there are Sociological factors such as Social distance of speaker and listeners, the relative power of speaker and hearer, and absolute ranking of imposition in the particular culture.
