Abstract

This study aims to find, classify, and translanguaging and functions of that app. The writer uses Wei's theory (2017) to identify and analyze the types of translanguaging contained In the film. In addition, Jakobson’s (1995) theory is used to identify and analyze the function of translanguaging. The qualitative method is used to analyze the detailed data. The analysis shows that two types of translanguagings are used in the film Ali&Ratu Ratu Queens: translanguaging space and translanguaging instinct. Moreover, the writer found four (4) functions of translanguaging practices in the film. These functions include connotative, referential, emotive, and phatic. In conclusion, translanguaging practices can occur in everyday life and in films, which can be used as a medium of learning, particularly about the type and function of translanguaging.
