Abstract

This study aims to analyze the semantic meaning of jargon in Impossible Peace Israel/Palestine Since 1989 book by Mark LeVine. The data were analyzed based on Yule‟s (2010) theory. In conducting the study, the qualitative approach was used. The data and the result of the study were presented in a table and the form of a description. Furthermore, this study analyzed semantic meaning focusing on conceptual meaning and associative meaning. The data were jargons taken from Israel and Palestine conflict in Impossible Peace Israel/Palestine Since 1989 book. The result showed that the data were classified into five themes, namely parties, battles, the peace process, weapons, and disputed territory. It was also found that 37 data (74%) are conceptual meaning, and 13 data (26%) are associative meaning. Keywords: sociolinguistic, jargon, conceptual meaning, associative meaning, war.
