Abstract

This study aims at identifying the forms of Jargon used by crew at Alfamart store Perempatan Viktor, Tangerang Selatan and describing the functions of the jargon used by crew at Alfamart store Perempatan Viktor, Tangerang Selatan. This study used the theory of George Yule in (Gorge Yule, 2020) and the theory of Steve Brown and Salvatore Attardo in (Attardo, 2000). This study used a descriptive qualitative method. The data of the study were jargons used by the by crew at Alfamart store Perempatan Viktor, Tangerang Selatan that are commonly used in the operational of store. The jargons were in the spoken form. The techniques of collecting data were observations and interviews. The findings of the study reveal that the writer obtained 21 (twenty one) information that the word order was 4 data, Phrase 6 data, Acronyms 3 data, and abbreviation 8 data, such as ED, EDP, PDM, IKT, PO, POS, PWP. Abbreviations are the dominant form of jargon terms used at Alfamart to describe activities, and instructions/directions commonly used in the Retail industry. Furthermore, Acronyms are applied to employee status and item status of operational procedures. The jargon phrases used by each branch are unique according to their function to facilitate the terms of work or instruction.
