Abstract
This study is aimed to describe the jargon used by members of Indonesia Graphic Designers Community in Facebook. The objectives of this study are to figure out designer jargon and to analyze the meaning of jargon in Indonesia Graphic Designersf community in Facebook. This study applied descriptive qualitative method. The theory of Yule (2010) was used in analyzing the data. The data were taken from some post in a Facebook community named Indonesia Graphic Designers. The results, the writer found that there are 44 jargons in Indonesia Graphic Designers community in Facebook. It is classified in 5 types of jargon: etymology, acronym, compound, borrowing, and clipping. Etymology has 3 jargons, abbreviation has 16 jargons, compound has 14 jargons, borrowing has 9 jargons, and clipping 2 jargons. Acronym jargons are the dominant data in this study. The result also shows that there are 36 jargons that have meaning matches the general dictionary or denotative meanings. Only 8 jargons in the compound and borrowing types have connotative meaning.
